Introduction

This command is used to configure how the pipe network is labelled, specifically the pit and pipes.  Users are able to automatically adjust the pipe and pit labels based on branch and pit number.

The Branch Sequencing must be defined before running this command, so the branching of the network is defined.  If the branch sequencing has not been defined this command will not adjust the pit/pipe labels.

The Network Labelling Styles define how the pit labelling will be applied for each branch.

Details

Upon selecting this command, the designer must select a network to apply the pit labels to.  This can be achieved by either selecting the network in the drawing or from a list.  Click here for more details on selecting a network.

After selecting a network the following form is displayed:

Network Pit Labelling Style Select the style required from the drop down list.  Use the Edit Network Labelling Style command to create/edit pit labelling styles.
Label Type Define how the pit and pipes are labelled.
Pipe Select the desired labelling for the pipes of the selected network.
Pit/Line Labels
uses the labels defined with this command and the Renumber/Rename Pipes command.
Auto Numbers
uses the software assigned pipe number (this is a unique identifier assigned by the software and can not be changed).
Pit Select the desired labelling for the pits of the selected network.
Pit/Line Labels
uses the labels defined with this command and the Renumber/Rename Pits command.
Auto Numbers
uses the software assigned pit number (this is a unique identifier assigned by the software and can not be changed).
Numbering Direction Define the labelling direction of the network.
Upstream or Downstream Select either Upstream or Downstream as the starting point for the pit numbers.  The pit numbering always start a 1 or A unless the pit ID has been set manually using the Renumber/Rename Pits command.
Defaults for Pipe Labels from Pit Labels Define how the pipe labels are defined from the pit labels.
  Upstream/Downstream Pit
  or
  Downstream/Upstream Pit
Select the convention for the pipe labels, either Upstream pit number followed by the Downstream pit number or vice versa.
Pipe Prefix Enter the value for the pipe label prefix, if required.
Middle Enter the value for the separator between upstream/downstream pit numbers.
Suffix Enter the suffix for the pipe label, if required.
Label Overrides Override the labelling for pits in the network.
All Manual Set all pits in the network to manual labels.  Use the Renumber/Rename Pits command to edit a pit label.
All Automatic Set all pits in the network to automatic labels (use the settings in this form).
Set for Single Pit Select a pit and edit it's label - see the Renumber/Rename Pits command for more information.
Optional Start Number (for Continuous Number Label Style Only) Set a starting pit number for the network.  By default, the starting pit number is 1.  The application of this value is subject to the applied Network Pit Labelling Style being set to display continuous pit numbering (as opposed to a combination of pit and branch/line numbering).
Pit Start Number Type in a starting number for the pits.
OK Apply and exit.  Pits and pipes will be renumbered based on these settings.  Pit numbers will be circled.
Cancel Exit the form.

Note: The circle around the pits is automatically added and reinstated whenever a pit label is moved or the network is redrawn.  Users are encouraged to place the circles on a non-plottable layer if they are not to be included in the plotting outputs.
