Introduction

The Read Data Share command forms part of the Data Sharing tools inside Civil Site Design.

Using the Data Sharing tools, road type data (eg: road, kerb return, cul-de-sac strings and sections) and pipe network data can be shared between drawings.

The general process is as follows:

Shared data cannot be edited except in the original drawing.  Viewing and plotting of data is allowed via the receiving drawing.  Surface creation of Road type objects is not supported for referenced data - these should be created in the source drawing.

Alignments and Surfaces are not transferred in the Data Share process - users must ensure that both drawings have matching alignment and surface data, prior to data sharing.

The shared data can be updated at any time by running the Read Data Share command on the source drawing and the Read Data Share command on the receiving drawing.

Users are able to obtain data from multiple drawings - drawing data simply needs to be shared out using the Share Data command.

When pipes are referenced in, CSD gives them a unique pit number.  If branch sequencing and pit labelling has been applied, this will be shown in the referenced pipes and pits when they are read in.
