Surface Labels will produce a variety of intelligent labels directly onto a surface. The tool is designed to allow the user to randomly place customisable labels over a surface manually, and optionally use a secondary surface to demonstrate elevation differences.
The user can produce a series of label styles in the drawing each with its own predefined style. The styles created can be used for other projects and stored within the global settings for inclusion in new projects. Label Styles are managed via the Label Styles command for Surface Labels.
Grip Editing | ||
|
||
Marker Grip |
Moving the marker grip will reposition the entire label and update the Label content if referencing a surface. Use the Sychronise Labels command to update label contents where necessary. |
|
Text Grips |
Moving the text grips will reposition the Label text only. |
|
Leaders | Users can create a Label Style which will generate leaders from the marker to the Label text if the text grip is dragged a specified distance. |
Slope Labels |
Users can add line objects to the Labels, specifying distances along the X axis, and adding Text that includes a Slope property (either slope % or slope 1:). This will result in the line component of the label being rotated in the steepest slope direction. |

Labels can be 'deleted' using the Delete Labels command. This in effect hides the label - it still exists in the Label List and can be restored via the Undelete Label command. Users can opt to permanently remove 'deleted' labels via this command.
If any labels have been 'deleted', the user will be prompted upon starting the command to decide whether or not to permanently remove 'deleted' labels.
Upon selecting the command the following form is displayed:
