Introduction

This command searches for blocks, points, text and mtext in the drawing to create COGO points.  Users pick the layer and type of object to use for creating points.

When locating objects in the drawing, users can extract elevation and description information from the objects.  This extraction of elevation and/or description can extend to nearby text, in the event that objects such as points or blocks are located in close proximity to text that either describes the elevation or description that can be assigned to the points.

Upon selecting the command the following form is displayed:


 

Layer

Select the layer that the objects are located on.

Object Type

Pick the type of object in the drawing to create points from located on the selected layer:
- Blocks (Block Reference)
- Text
- MText
- Point (CAD point)
   

  Elevations Tab


Elevation information can be extracted from the objects, or nearby objects. 

Type (picklist)

Elevations can be extracted from the following:
- Object Z (elevation of the objects)
- Text contents
- Attribute (Object type is set to Block)
- Find nearest text (the contents of the closest text object)

Extract Attribute

Enabled when the Type is set to Attribute.
Type in the block attribute to use.

Text Layer

Enabled when the Type is set to Find nearest text.  Neared text content on the selected layer is used.

  Descriptions


 Elevation information can be extracted from the objects, or nearby objects. 

Type (picklist)

Descriptions can be extracted from the following:
- Text contents (Object type is set to text or mtext)
- Attribute (Object type is set to Block)
- Use default (Default Description from the form is used)
- Find nearest text (the contents of the closest text object)

Extract Attribute

Enabled when the Type is set to Attribute.
Type in the block attribute to use.

Text Layer

Enabled when the Type is set to Find nearest text.  Neared text content on the selected layer is used.

Default Description

Type in a single description to apply to all created points.

Styles Set the point styles applied to the created points.

  Default Point Style

Select a default Point Style to apply to the points, in the event that a Point Code Set table is not selected.

    Edit button

Click to open the Point Style form.

  Code Set Table

Select a Point Code Set table to set the point styles, description formatting and layers to apply.

    Edit button

Click to open the Point Code Set form.

Create COGO Points

Creates COGO points from the objects.
